Happy 21st Hubble

Arp 273

Today, Hubble is celebrating its 21st birthday. (Technically, Hubble was launched aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery on April 24, 1990. But it’s sort of like having a kid’s birthday fall during the week of or on Christmas – you just need to have a party when everyone is available.) The beautiful part about Hubble’s birthday is that we are the ones that get the gift: a new image of the interacting galaxies known as Arp 273.

Happy Birthday, Fellow Great Observatory.
