Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 19 October 2007 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A real-time procedure was completed on Oct 17 to verify the value of the CPE warm start count. The count has remained unchanged at the nominal value of 1.

A real-time procedure was conducted on Oct 18 to swap to SSR-B in order to preserve data on SSR-A following a DSN anomaly. Approximately 5 hours of data were lost during the scheduled playback of data due to the anomaly and the SSR swap will allow the lost data to be replayed at a later pass.

A Chandra press release was issued on Oct 17 announcing the discovery of the most massive stellar-mass black hole. The black hole has a mass of 15.7 times that of the Sun and is part of a binary system in the galaxy M33. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/press/07_releases/press_101707.html

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below.
