Friday 10 December 1999 9.00am EST

During the last 48 hours Chandra completed a series of calibration observations of Ar-Lac with HRC-I, an observation of NGC 1068 with HRC-S [ACIS-S; rjb], of RXJ0439.0+0715 with ACIS-I, and of BAL 0256-0119, NGC 1138 and NGC 7618 with ACIS-S.

The approval cycle was completed for the next load scheduled to begin executing at 6pm on Sunday 12/12 and run through 4pm Sunday 12/19. Testing of the SI safing software patches and test procedure was completed against the spacecraft hardware simulator (ASVT). The upload and checkout of the patches is scheduled to begin Monday 12/13 at 2.30pm.

Over the weekend the observatory will pass through the radiation belts and continue with observations of an M31 Transient and A2261 with ACIS-I, A2199 and A1835 with ACIS-S, and begin a long observation of NGC 5548 with the HRC-S and LETG.

The spacecraft subsystems continued to operate nominally.
