Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 17 September 2004 8.00am EDT

During the last week the observing schedule was interrupted on Sep 13 at 6:43pm due to a high radiation event. The event stopped the daily load and activated the science instrument safing sequence (SCS 107). All actions were nominal and loads were restarted 12.00pm on Sep 15. Observations of AR Lac, XRF040825, Kepler and Sculptor Dwarf (total 87.2 Ks) were impacted by the event. The observations of XRF040825 and Sculptor Dwarf were rescheduled in the replan loads for this week. An observation of GRB040912 was accepted as a Target of Opportunity (TOO) on Sep 13 just prior to the radiation shutdown, and was also included in the new schedule.

A small amount (<5 min) of recorder data were lost following an unexpected SRR recorder pointer reset on Sept 11. The reset occurred when 14 commands were unexpectedly re-sent by DSN during a real-time pass. Since the reset occurred during a pass, the data were subsequently recovered from the real-time stream archive. We are working closely with DSN to understand the cause of the repeated commanding.

A real-time procedure was completed on Sept 15 to update the on-board ephemeris.

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below.
