Q&A: General Astronomy and Space Science

Q:
In many articles on astrophysics I have come across the term space-time quite often. What does it actually mean?

A:
In Einstein's theory of relativity, intervals of space and time are not independent entities, but are related in ways that depend on the motion, and acceleration of observers relative to one another by the equations of relativity which specify space time intervals. So, space time refers to the fabric of space and time as they are tied together by the theory.
