During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. Chandra passed through the 22nd, 23rd and 24th eclipses of the season on Nov 25, 27 and 30 respectively, with nominal power and thermal performance. Real-time procedures were executed on Nov 26 to dump and clear the EPS glitch counters following the Nov 25 eclipse. A Chandra image release was issued on Nov 29 describing observations of the star forming region RCW 36. A new study which combines data from several telescopes including Chandra, SOFIA and Herschel has revealed stars in the cluster self-regulate their formation. Only a limited number of stars can grow before the biggest and brightest members expel most of the gas from the system. This process should drastically slow down the birth of new stars, which would better align with predictions for how quickly stars form in clusters.
