Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 9 June 2023 9.00am EDT

During the last week, Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

Real-time procedures were executed on Jun 7 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer and to perform a diagnostic dump of the Control Processing Electronics (CPE).

A Chandra image release was issued on Jun 6 describing observations of the galaxy NGC 4839 by Chandra, XMM-Newton, and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. The data show that as the galaxy NGC 4839 moves toward the center of the Coma cluster, the hot gas in the galaxy group is stripped away by its collision with gas in the cluster. This results in a tail forming behind the galaxy group. For details see:

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes observations of AT2023fhn, which are follow-ups to a Target of Opportunity accepted on Apr 21.
