Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 20 October 2023 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A real-time procedure was executed on Oct 13 to uplink a flight software patch to reduce the deviations from normal sun pitch and roll angles within which FSS data are relied upon for transitioning from Sun acquisition to Sun point submode, to better accommodate degradation in FSS data.

Real-time procedures were executed on Oct 13-16 to dump OBC-A and -B memory as a follow-up to the flight software patch on Oct 13. The dump will be used to update the baseline memory images maintained on the ground.

Chandra passed through the 16th, 17th, and 18th eclipses of the season on Oct 13, 16, and 19 respectively, with nominal power and thermal performance.

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes observations of SwiftJ1727.8-1613, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Oct 10, observations of AT2023fhn, which is a follow-up to a Target of Opportunity accepted on Apr 21, and observations of AT2018hco coordinated with VLA.
