Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 13 February 2026 9.00am EST

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A real-time procedure was executed on Feb 6 to complete the series of dumps of OBC-A and -B memory as a follow-up to last week's HRC autonomous safing patch. The dump will be used to update the baseline memory images maintained on the ground.

Chandra passed through the 11th and 12th eclipses of the season on Feb 8 and Feb 11 respectively, with nominal power and thermal performance.

Of note this week was the release of the announcement of the next in the series of Chandra science workshops, titled Chandra's Dynamic Universe, to be held in Cambridge, MA on Aug 18-20, 2026. The workshop will focus on discoveries in time domain and multi-messenger astrophysics enabled by Chandra's unique science capabilities.

A Chandra image release was issued on Feb 12 to mark Valentine's Day with a composite of X-ray data from Chandra, infrared data from the NASA WISE mission, and ground-based optical data depicting the heart-shaped Cocoon nebula (IC 5146), a star-forming region in the Milky Way. The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below.
