During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. A real-time procedure was executed on Mar 16 to patch SCS-31 (Safe Mode Reconfiguration) to change the RF configuration from low power mode at a data rate of 128 kbps (needed during the past period of low perigee) to high power mode at 1024 kbps. Additional real-time procedures were executed on Mar 16, 17, 18, and 19 to dump OBC-A and -B memory as a follow-up to the patch. The dump will be used to update the baseline memory images maintained on the ground. A further real-time procedure was executed on Mar 19 to replace the contents of SCS 177, which commands eight monitor windows in the ACA when activated at the start of each maneuver. This will move the location of the monitor windows to new areas of interest. Of note this week, the Chandra Cycle 28 proposal deadline was Mar 18 at 6pm EDT. A Chandra image release was issued on Mar 19 with six star-forming regions, illustrating a broad range of ages of these stellar nurseries. The images combine data from Chandra with data from HST, JWST, and ground-based telescopes. For details, see https://chandra.si.edu/photo/2026/spring/ The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes observations of AT2026dbl, which is a follow-up to a Target of Opportunity accepted on Feb 20. |
