Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 27 January 2012 9.00am EST

During the last week the observing schedule was interrupted by a high-radiation event that activated the science instrument safing sequence (SCS 107) and stopped observing at 01:00am EST on Jan 23. This was the first radiation event since the observatory's response to high radiation was modified. All spacecraft actions were nominal. A real-time procedure was executed on Jan 23 to disable SCS-29, which was enabled during the safing sequence. Observations of NGC3115 and HD 107148 were impacted and will be rescheduled. A real-time procedure was executed on Jan 25 to verify that the radiation environment as observed by the HRC anticoincidence shield had decreased to an acceptable level and a replanned schedule for resuming science observations was uplinked with 192.1ks of science loss.

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of 4U 1630-47, from a Target of Opportunity series which was accepted on Jan 4.
