Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 31 May 2013 9.00am EDT

During the last week the observing schedule was interrupted due to high radiation associated with solar activity. The loads were halted at 4:41pm EDT on May 24 through a ground command to execute the SI Safing SCS 107. This ensured that the accumulated radiation dose for ACIS remained below the allowed threshold. All spacecraft actions were nominal. A real-time procedure was executed on May 24 to disable SCS-29, which was enabled during the safing sequence. A replanned schedule for resuming science observations was uplinked on May 25 with 52.8ks of science loss. Scheduled observations of 3C441, ESO 313-5, and 3C455 were impacted and will be rescheduled.

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of NGC 404, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time TOO on Apr 26, a follow-up observation of a new magnetar, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Apr 26, and observations of Sgr A* coordinated with the EVLA.
