Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 22 April 2005 10.30am EDT

During the last week the observing schedule was replanned to include an observation of GRB050412 that was approved as a fast turn-around Target Of Opportunity (TOO) on Apr 15. Loads were replanned and uplinked on Apr 15. An observation of Terzan 1 was impacted by the replan and will be rescheduled for a later load.

The target RXJ0513.9-6951 was accepted as a second TOO on Apr 18 and loads were replanned and uplinked on Apr 20. Observations of AX J1040.3+2045 and 2PIGGz0.061 J0011 were impacted by the replan and will be rescheduled for a later load.

A real-time procedure was completed on Apr 15 to update the on-board ephemeris.

A Chandra press release was issued on Apr 19 describing the discovery of a distinctive shell of hot gas around the site of a distant supernova explosion. The discovery sheds light on the puzzle as to why some supernova display shells and others do not. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/press/05_releases/press_041905.html

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes a follow-up observation of the TOO RXJ0513.9-6951.
